AC-38, nicknamed Ace or Ace-38, was an AC series pilot droid that worked for Star Tours as a pilot sometime between 1 BBY and 0 BBY. During one flight, Ace was the intended pilot and was supposed to fly passengers in a StarSpeeder 1000.

During the last minute, when the Binary motivator malfunctioned in the StarSpeeder 1000, AC-38 hired Protocol droid C-3PO to fix the motivator. AC-38 exit the ship to inspect the front of the ship while C-3PO was supposed to ensure the onboard consoles were in working order and fix the motivator. However, C-3PO inadvertently trapped himself within the cockpit via the autopilot itself is suddenly triggered who seals the cockpit shield inside. Outside, while AC-38 is inspecting the front of the chip, he got distracted with something else (someone called him to check something else), failing to report back when the autopilot's preparations were complete as he walk away from the ship. When the ship was elevated to the loading area, C-3PO was in the pilot's seat instead as he was force to pilot the ship by the autopilot. In an advertisement for the StarSpeeder, Aly San San described Ace as friendly and personable, but he can be a bit testy at times, as shown when Ace tells Threepio to make his work quick because they were scheduled to depart in several minutes.
