Dreval

Dreval was a Rodian who served as a pilot in the Alliance to Restore the Republic during the Galactic Civil War. They piloted an A-wing starfighter as a member of Nova Squadron.

On one occasion, while on the way to check their A-wing in the squadron hangar, maintenance paint was spilled on Dreval’s left boot. After stopping to clean it, they missed being inside the hangar when a magnetic shield malfunction caused a potentially fatal depressurization. The incident led Dreval to superstitiously wear the same pair of boots for the rest of the war. Dreval also started pausing for thirty seconds before entering the hangar to ensure that they were "late."

In an interview with Lasen Jorpal for the New Republic Heritage Division, fellow Nova Squadron member Gemmer Sojan discussed superstitions among pilots and described Dreval’s rituals. Although the squadron, including Sojan, found the behavior ridiculous, they shielded Dreval from teasing by non-pilots. Sojan noted that Dreval survived the war unharmed.
