That year, as Kreel—by then the leader of the elite Imperial stormtrooper unit Task Force 99—fought against rebels on the Ghost Moon, he mentally reflected on his life. He recalled his mother's passing and noted his belief he had been destined to die like his mother in the fighting pits of Chagar IX until stormtroopers of the 501st Legion arrived and shut down the arenas.
