The mother of the Kuat of Kuat during the reign of the Galactic Empire died giving birth to him. In order to determine that the Elder of Knylenn was a phony, Kuat claimed that the Elder had sworn to Kuat's mother that the Elder would outlive Kuat, which would be impossible given his mother's death.
