Mandalore the Hammerborn was a Mandalorian who grew up in alleys on the astronomical object Kol Atorn, far from the Mandalorian homeworld of Mandalore. During their time on Kol Atorn, they learned an accented version of Mando'a—the Mandalorian language—from emigrants and exiles who settled on Kol Atorn. At some point between approximately 7000 BBY and 60 BBY, they claimed the title of Mand'alor, the traditional ruler of the Mandalorian clans.

Some time after Mandalore the Hammerborn's reign, they were remembered in Ba'jurne Kyr'tsad Mando'ad, a manifesto of the Death Watch splinter group claimed to have been written by the group's founder, Tor Vizsla. However, Death Watch's opponent Jango Fett questioned the authorship. Jango's son, the bounty hunter Boba Fett, later included the manifesto in the book The Bounty Hunter Code at some point between 0 BBY and 4 ABY.
