Matteus Zaym was a Human male prince of the Tion Hegemony who lived centuries after the collapse of the warlord Xim the Despot's empire. During a period of political turmoil in the Tion Cluster, the Tionese prince fled to the planet Kaon there to avoid assassination. Using his remaining wealth, Zaym rebuilt the former trade world, growing its trade ports and investing in the arts. From his palace, Zaym gradually turned Kaon into a peaceful and cultured retreat for the nobility of the Tion Cluster.
