R4-D23 was an R4 astromech droid operating on Coruscant. He was a typical R4, but also wore a blue cone-shaped hat with star and moon shapes in its design and included black "ears." He was known to frequent the local droid spa for oil baths and recharging.

R4-D23 included a Burtt acoustic signaler, a Hi-power Recharge coupling, and Interference Pulse Stabilizers. His durasteel legs had motorized treads and accentuating couplers.
