R8-B7

R8-B7 was a R-series astromech droid, used as a co-pilot by Jedi Master Mace Windu. He shared his coloration with Windu's lightsaber.

During Windu's time as a Jedi Knight, R8-B7 accompanied Windu in his Delta-7 Aethersprite-class light interceptor during his mission to the moon Ro Mira searching the criminal Azita Cruuz who had stolen a sample and the formula for coaxium ultra fuel. Before departing from the Jedi Temple on Coruscant, Windu was informed that all of the Jedi Order's limited information about Cruuz had been loaded into his droid. After landing a refinery town, Windu told R8-B7 to stay with the ship and wait for his signal while he searched for his contact. After Windu had found Cruuz and had brought her to Ro Mira's Radial Spaceport, they were attacked by Dusk Weavers of the Had'le Path cult and Windu called upon his astromech to fly his starfighter to his location. After the arrival of the cult's leader, the Shroud, Windu told Cruuz to get in the starfighter and leave, but she instead used it's laser cannons to destroy her freighter and bury the Shroud underneath. Afterwards, Windu and Cruuz then cramped themselves in the one-person cockpit of his fighter and flew back to the Jedi Temple on Coruscant.

During the Clone Wars in 21 BBY, R8-B7 was stationed with Windu on board the Venator-class Star Destroyer Endurance. After the Venator reactor was sabotaged by Boba Fett in an attempt to assassinate Windu who had killed his father, R8 was waiting in Windu's Delta-7B Aethersprite-class light interceptor and the two quickly left the hangar and docked with their hyperspace ring. Windu and Jedi Knight Anakin Skywalker in his own Delta-7B fighter and then began to search for one of the missing escape pods with clone cadets. R8-B7 then accompanied Windu to the planet Vanqor, where they looked for survivors of the crash of the Endurance. Alongside Skywalker and his astromech R2-D2, R8 and Windu searched the wreckage of the cruiser, unaware of a pair of gundarks were stalking the group. After the Jedi journeyed further into the crash site and R8 and R2 stayed outside, the gundarks attacked the two droids with one picking R8-B7 up with his jaws. R2-D2 attempted to save the hapless other droid, but was knocked out of the fray and R8-B7 was ripped apart by the two fighting creatures. Following R8-B7'sdestruction, R2-D2 flew Windu's Delta-7B offworld to inform the Jedi High Council on Coruscant of Skywalker and Windu's situation on Vanqor.
