Red One (Resistance)

"Red One," also designated "R-1," was a pilot in the Resistance Starfighter Corps stationed at the base on D'Qar during the Cold War with the First Order. After the Hosnian Cataclysm in 34 ABY, they joined eleven fellow Resistance pilots in the assault on Starkiller Base under Poe Dameron's command as flight leader of Red Squadron, one of the Resistance's X-wing squadrons. During the battle, the pilot participated in multiple bombing runs on the superweapon's oscillator before an enemy TIE fighter shot down Red One's X-wing. Although Red One was killed during the attack, the remaining Resistance pilots successfully destroyed the superweapon.
