Rennek was a Human who worked as a nerf herder for the Tatooine-based Hutt crime lord Jabba Desilijic Tiure. In the year 4 ABY, Rennek was present in the audience chamber of Jabba's desert palace when the droids C-3PO and R2-D2, and later Princess Leia Organa, arrived there to free their imprisoned Rebel Alliance cohort Han Solo from Jabba's clutches.
