Traeda was an Imperial Grand Moff. He was a rival of Grand Admiral Rufaan Tigellinus, and envied his opponent's quick rise to power.
Some time after the Battle of Yavin, Traeda lost an important ally, Governor Weizel, who defected to Tigellinus's faction. Around the same time, Traeda attended the New Year Fete Week alongside Tigellinus and Moff Jaan, in place of the Emperor who had business in the Deep Core.
