An ambush occurred in the Valo system against the forces of the Alliance to Restore the Republic by the Galactic Empire. Imperial agent Lyle Kullan had infiltrated the Rebel Alliance's Rogue Squadron in an attempt to capture Commander Luke Skywalker. The first attempt failed at the Taris shipyards, and the facilities were destroyed. After placing a distress signal in the Valo system, Rogue Squadron launched to assist Kullan. They were then met by three Imperial II-class Star Destroyers led by Commander Calister. Following the arrival of Alliance Fleet forces, Imperial vessels retreated in defeat.
