A battle took place on the planet Ord Mantell in 22 BBY during the Clone Wars, an inter-galactic conflict. Jedi General Ki-Adi-Mundi led Republic troops against the Confederate cyborg General Grievous and his battle droids. Eventually, Grievous had his droid forces raze an entire township to divert the Republic troops, so that he could make his escape. The massacre was so great that even the stoic Mundi wept when he gave a report about the battle to the Jedi Council.
