Sometime before the Battle of Coruscant, an expedition was sent to the planet of Malachor at the behest of Darth Sidious, a Dark Lord of the Sith whose public persona was Supreme Chancellor Sheev Palpatine of the Galactic Republic. An artifact known as the Sith Chalice was retrieved on Malachor and brought to Sidious.
