On the planet Ylagia, a fasting season was practiced by members of the native Alvadorjians living there as a deeply ingrained part of their culture. By the time of the Clone Wars between the Galactic Republic and the Confederacy of Independent Systems, the Alvadorjian Soujen Vak-Nhalis and his family participated in at least one fasting season. In 19 BBY, he briefly spoke with the freedom fighter Karama about his origins on Ylagia. Though he considered informing her of the Alvadorjian's fasting season and other culturally significant occurrences, he decided not to, considering his culture too sacred to share.
