Sometime after the Rakatan invasion of Korriban, an ice age occurred on the planet Ziost, originally a thickly forested world with a warm climate, that leveled the vast woodlands as well as most evidence of civilization. The towering Sith Citadel was among the few remaining structures following the devastation.
By the time of Galactic War, scholars debated whether this environmental turnabout was due to an ice age or eons of dark side influence. During the New Sith Wars, Brotherhood of Darkness member Seviss Vaa researched the worlds of the Sith Empire, and mentioned the ice age in his recordings in the Telos Holocron.
