At some point between 1 BBY and 4 ABY, the Rebel Alliance engaged the military of the Galactic Empire in the Matacorn campaign of the Galactic Civil War. It shared its name with Matacorn, a nondescript trade world in the Mid Rim's Lambda sector. At one engagement of the campaign, Hesoc, an Alliance pilot flying an X-wing starfighter, eliminated eighteen TIE/LN starfighters and four TIE/sa bombers of the Empire. After that, however, an Imperial interceptor starfighter shot Hesoc down while he was executing a Tallon Roll maneuver.

Hesoc brought his damaged X-wing starfighter back in, but his right leg had been injured to the point where he was fitted with a cybernetic prosthesis. Although such an injury would normally have meant an end to the pilot's flying career, Hesoc nevertheless managed to persuade the chain of command to reinstate him for combat duty.
