The Muurshantre Extinction was an event that saw the destruction of the document known as the Taurannik Codex, which the death cult Knell of Muspilli from the Unknown Regions location Gunninga Gap transcribed in order to summon apocalyptic deities. By the time of the reign of the Galactic Empire a hundred millennia after the Muurshantre Extinction, scattered scraps of the Taurannik Codex were located among the moon trees that drifted in the interstellar space of the Gunninga Gap.
