After the Galactic Empire came to power in 19 BBY, the rise of the Empire caused a swelling clan rivalry to develop on the planet Rodia. The Rodian Navik the Red chose his moment to strike in an insurection, overthrowing his rivals and capturing the capital of Rodia, Equator City. In 17 BBY, he declared himself Grand Protector of Rodia and changing the planet's capital from Equator City to Iskaayuma, seat of his Chattza clan.
