An occupation was undertaken by the Galactic Empire on the planet Champala during the Imperial Era. The Galactic Empire expanded mining and manufacturing operations tenfold, resulted in the poisoning of the already tainted oceans on Champala by industrial pollution. Many Chagrian joined the Alliance to Restore the Republic, and became valuable in securing the liberation of other water worlds, including Mon Cala.
