The sandstorm season, also known as the sandwhirl season, was an annual storm season on the desert planet Tatooine. It was a dangerous season characterized by furious winds and titanic sandstorms that altered the landscape and erased landmarks. The sandstorm season was preceded by a growing season.
Once each year, the Jawas held a swap meet in the Dune Sea, the Great Swap Meet, just before the start of the sandstorm season.
