Around 27 BBY, the first battle between the Vagaari pirates and Chiss Ascendancy Senior Captain Mitth'raw'nuruodo, core name "Thrawn," took place in the Unknown Regions. The battle, which commenced Thrawn's operations to eliminate the pirates, resulted in Thrawn retrieving a Vagaari gravity-well generator. The capture of the generator persuaded the Chiss Obbic family to ally itself with the senior captain's Mitth family. In 18 BBY, Clarr family Captain Clarr'os'culry reminded Clarr Patriarch Rivlex of how the battle had made the Obbic ally with the Mitth.
