The Dersonn system was located in the Tammuz sector, a part of the Slice portion of the Outer Rim Territories. It contained the terrestrial celestial body Dersonn III. By 3959 BBY, the star system was a part of the "civilized galaxy," the territory that had been widely explored by the Galactic Republic.
At some point by 3951 BBY, the Wookiee bounty hunter and enslaver Hanharr, who had previously been enslaved himself and harbored a hatred for other living beings, particularly Humans, caused the destruction of the population of Dersonn III. He also survived a freighter crash there, a fact that was witnessed by the Human bounty hunter Mira.
