Legends. This article is part of Legends: the expanded-universe stories that Lucasfilm set apart from canon in 2014.
The Gestrex system was a part of the Calaron sector in the Slice portion of the Outer Rim Territories. It was connected to the Kegan and Norval systems via the hyperlane known as the Triellus Trade Route.
The Gestrex system contained the terrestrial astronomical object Gestrex III, which housed a base of the Galactic Empire's Navy during the Galactic Civil War. At some point between 2 BBY and 1 BBY, the facility was decimated by a team of Rebel Alliance commandos. The base was subsequently abandoned.
