The Drift, also known as the Kuras Drift, was a vast stellar dust cloud containing a modest number of asteroids and planetoids that covered a large part of the Elrood sector, in the Outer Rim Territories. Although its dreadful reputation was quite exaggerated, the nature of the Drift made sensors ineffective and travel through the dust cloud rather difficult. Territories of the Elrood sector located beyond the Drift, including the Kuras system, were poorly explored.
