11,947 BBY or 11,947 Before the Battle of Yavin was a year in the Galactic Standard Calendar that fell in the period of time known as the Pius Dea Era. By that year, fanatic members of the Humanocentric Pius Dea faith effectively controlled the Galactic Republic. In 11,947 BBY, the Pius Dea adherent Contispex I stepped down as Supreme Chancellor of the Republic after his forty-year term, allowing his son Contispex II to take up the position instead and thus giving rise to the Contispex dynasty of Chancellors.
