176 BBY, or 176 Before the Battle of Yavin, was a year in the 'ABY-BBY' dating system that was a part of the High Republic Era. Around that year, the Force-sensitive human Sol left his family to join the Jedi Order and become a Jedi. Sol eventually ascended to the rank of Jedi Knight by 148 BBY. That year, while on a mission to the planet Brendok, Sol and Jedi Master Indara tested the twins Mae-ho and Verosha Aniseya for their ability to use the Force. While testing Verosha, Sol told her about his own experience with joining the Jedi Order, mentioning he joined it at the age of four.
