Beryllium

Beryllium was a type of valuable ore, substantial deposits of which could be found on the planet Illarreen of the Outer Rim Territories' Herios sector. After the establishment of the Galactic Empire in 19 BBY led to the stagnation of the economy of Illarreen's native Poss'Nomin species, the planetary Poss'Nomin government auctioned off significant expanses of publicly owned land. Those territories were then predominantly purchased by influential offworld mining enterprises, which were interested in Illarreen's beryllium reserves but not in the plight of the Poss'Nomin.
