Chief sensor officer, also known as a sensor chief, was a sensor officer position within the starfleet of the Galactic Empire. His or her duty was to watch a starship's sensor station. Senior Lieutenant Hammerly held the post aboard the Arquitens-class light cruiser Thunder Wasp, although First Officer Thrawn briefly assumed it during the mission to Umbara.
