The fall of the Old Republic, also called the dark age, described a long period of time during the Old Republic-era, in which the Galactic Republic slowly declined in its power. Eventually, the Old Republic collapsed, and the galaxy entered a dark age, which ended in what was believed to be the final defeat of the Sith and the reorganization of the Republic.
