Hardan plague

The Hardan plague was a virulent disease known by the time of the proclamation of the Galactic Empire. Around this period, the inhabitants of Dagelin Minor imported a shipment of insectivorous flying rodents known as Bogan's brown nafen in response to an infestation of dhuru flies. Unfortunately, the nafen, which were notorious for being extremely efficient transmitters of disease, caused an outbreak of the Hardan plague on Dagelin Minor, leading to the deaths of ninety-eight percent of the whole population.

According to the Boudolayz files, a native of the remote world of Shinbone and a hunter during the Galactic Civil War, Beilert Valance was an orphan who claimed that his parents had died from the Hardan plague.
