Ongmuel was a type of tree with a brown trunk and dark green leaves. It was native to the forests and plains of the planet Dathomir. The Singing Mountain Clan of the Witches of Dathomir used the leaves of the Ongmuel for their healing properties, while the Nightsister coven utilized them to cause harm.
In 1 ABY, during the Galactic Civil War, the Dathomirian witch Rubina asked a spacer to infiltrate either the Singing Mountain Clan or the Nightsisters, which resulted in the individual gathering Ongmuel leaves.
