The pre-Republic period was a period of time before the formation of the Galactic Republic. During her attempt to break Werth Plouth, the Herald of the Path of the Open Hand, out of imprisonment in the Temple of the Kyber on Jedha, the Path member Yana Ro disguised herself as a Jedi and claimed to the Guardians of the Whills who guarded the Herald's cell that she was an expert in esoteric relics from the pre-Republic period, including the Rod of Daybreak, which she and chief archivist Feric Oranalli needed to speak to Plouth about, as he had been searching for the object before.
