Prefects were officials in the Galactic Empire with control over territory. The title did not carry extra pay on its own and simply existed to signify leadership. Kosh, an Imperial Army officer from Tatooine, eventually became a prefect. Captain Vanis Tigo, commanding officer of the Ferrix garrison, was promoted to prefect after requesting the title.
