Prefect was a title used by the head of state of the Unknown Regions Scoftic government. Occasionally, Scoftic prefects were assassinated, which often led to the creation of new governmental protocols. Around 36 BBY, the Prefect had recently been assassinated, and was subsequently replaced by a new one. As a result, the Chiss Ascendancy nation, among other nearby nations, sent an ambassador to meet the new Prefect and learn his protocols.
