Thoughtful looking was a Force-technique used by Jedi to get a greater look of a thing or things. The technique helped Jedi find things that even electrobinoculars didn't pick up. The technique involved shifting ones concentration back and forth from the big picture to a microscopic scale.

Ferus Olin used the technique to discover that EmPal SuRecon had the tiniest flaw, a ripple in the armoring on the highest levels of the tower, a flaw likely given by glancing blow of stray debris, enough to tell Ferus that it was armoring, not the metallic skin of the tower. Further inspection of the tower revealed to Ferus the slightest bumps that were regularly spaced, indicating power feed lines. Enough power feed lines to power a turbolaser.
