A transference prism was a rare type of crystal that was mined from the hearts of gas giants. They were highly conductive, and were used by pirates near Wild Space to divert power from their starship's deflector shield to its weapon systems. In 3 ABY, merchant members of the Miyuki Trade League sold the prisms for 3600 credits.
In 3 ABY, the scoundrel Kay Vess purchased a number of crystals for use in upgrading the Trailblazer, her EML-850 light freighter.
