Marvel Super Special 16

Marvel Super Special 16: The Empire Strikes Back collects issues 39-44 of the Star Wars (1977) series of comics; it has a publishing date of Spring, 1980 and a $2.00 cover price. This is a complete comic book adaptation of Star Wars: Episode V The Empire Strikes Back. It is a magazine-sized edition, a bit larger than a standard comic.

The cover for this issue was also used for The Marvel Comics Illustrated Version of Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back and Marvel Special Edition 2: The Empire Strikes Back.

This is the sixteenth issue of the Marvel Super Special series, which was used by Marvel Comics in the 1970s and 1980s as their showcase title for their comic adaptations of movies and pop culture icons. The Return of the Jedi adaptation would be released three years later under this banner title as well.
