Council of Mothers

The Council of Mothers was the ruling body of the Core Worlds planet Gatalenta by the time of the Imperial Era. On Gatalenta, the practice of slavery was forbidden by the Council of Mothers. The ruling body further dictated that any enslaved individuals brought to the world would be freed if their master was caught. In 3 BBY, Apprentice Legislator Amilyn Holdo—who hailed from Gatalenta—told her friend, Princess Leia Organa of the planet Alderaan, about the Council of Mothers' law concerning slavery.
