The four-thirty-ninth bomber wing served the Republic Navy. Before becoming Supreme Chancellor of the Galactic Republic, Galena Rans served in the four-thirty-ninth bomber wing as a commander. In 3627 BBY, Rans mentioned that since her time in the four-thirty-ninth bomber wing, she had not attended a military briefing like the one given by Fleet Admiral Numinn before the reconstituted Sith Empire's attack on the planet Corellia's Meridian Complex.
