Imperial combat engineer

Imperial combat engineers were a type of engineering specialist in the Galactic Empire. Imperial combat engineers in the Army Engineering Corps served as a form of infantry in the Imperial Army, and as such were trained in the use of Infantry weaponry, including slugthrowers, blasters, and heavy ordnance, the latter of which they used for taking out enemy encampments. In addition, Imperial Engineers were known to modify their tools for fighting, often using improvised weapons like sledgehammers and hydrospanners to take the fight to the enemy, often with brutal results. Imperial Engineers spent a lot of time handling explosives, from using shaped charges, to demolishing a structure, blasting away natural features to build a road or base, and defusing a saboteur's bomb. During the Mimban Campaign, Imperial combat engineers excavated and fortified trench networks through the thick mud that covered Mimban's surface.
