The Gran crime lord Nico Deemis ran a crime syndicate on the that was active in the capital city of the planet Janix during the time of the Galactic Republic. In 19 BBY, during the Clone Wars—a galactic conflict fought between the Republic and the Confederacy of Independent Systems—Deemis' syndicate joined the Shadow Collective, an alliance between various criminal organizations under the leadership of former Sith Lord Maul. That year, the Republic was reorganized into the Galactic Empire and Deemis abandoned the Shadow Collective believing that Maul was dead.
