The range corps was a division of the Galactic Empire's Stormtrooper Corps that was composed of range troopers. Imperial High Command decided that frontier soldiers would be needed as the Empire expanded and that frontier worlds needed to be surveyed since they could often be drawn to Rebel causes. Due to their harsh training, they mocked other Imperial Military units and called them amateurs.
