Wookiee council

The Wookiee council, also referred to as the central Wookiee government, was the governing body of the Wookiee species on the planet Kashyyyk. The government had developed to an advanced state prior to the arrival of the Czerka Corporation in 4020 BBY, who colonized the planet and renamed it Edean. After the corporation was forced off the world in 3956 BBY Kashyyyk became a thriving world and a member of the Galactic Republic.

In 22 BBY, Senator Yarua refused an offer for Kashyyyk to join the Confederacy of Independent Systems, the secessionist movement embroiled in the Clone Wars against the Republic. The central government also rejected the placement of Republic military bases on Kashyyyk, in spite of multiple Separatist invasions on the colonized moon Alaris Prime.

In 4 ABY, the Wookiee Chewbacca and Han Solo helped rebuild the Wookiee Government Tree on Kashyyyk, to bring aid from the Alliance to Restore the Republic.
