Legends. This article is part of Legends: the expanded-universe stories that Lucasfilm set apart from canon in 2014.
The Advanced Appendage Bus (AAB) was a proprietary universal socket interface utilized by Cybot Galactica to connect limbs, heads and other appendages to a droid's central processor. Its dataflow was more than triple that of the Universal Socket Interface standard, which would allow for advancements in sensory input, though only Cybot Galactica-manufactured parts were compatible with AAB sockets. Supporting software for the interface was developed at a Cybot Galactica-funded droid research institute located in the financial zone of the planet Coruscant's Galactic City. Some criticized the company's aggressive setting of a new standard, with competitors claiming that Cybot Galactica was attempting to its market share to cut smaller operations out of the lucrative droid replacement part business.
