Amplification crystal

Amplification crystals were a type of crystal used in the construction of the superlaser. The superlaser was powered by a massive reactor at the core of the Death Star, which used the amplification crystals to generate eight individual beams of turbolaser pulses that converged over the central focus lens.

Eight amplification crystals were used for the superlaser aboard the DS-1 Orbital Battle Station, and each crystal required a separate gunnery station to calibrate and modulate the pulses. Fourteen gunners manned each individual station, with an additional four additional amplification crystals held in reserve.
