Attack cruiser

An attack cruiser was a classification of cruiser that was used by navies. In the Republic Navy, the Venator-class Star Destroyer was considered to be an attack cruiser. In the Imperial Navy, attack cruisers were considered a downgrade from Star Destroyers. Due to attritional losses of the Galactic Empire's Star Destroyers after the Battle of Jakku, the remnants of the Imperial Navy were forced to rely on attack cruisers such as the Garrote.
