Binary star system

A binary star system was a double solar system comprising two stars. Binary stars were also occasionally referred to as twin suns. Such systems included the Tatoo, Montross, Mon Calamari systems, Dalnan system, as well as the system that housed the planet Halcyon. On one hospitable planet, the presence of two suns ensured the world never turned to night, but there were other planets in binary systems that still possessed a day to night cycle. On Dalna, the two suns created such a bright day that off-worlders not used to it could start to feel sun sickness.

In 2 BBY, the former Sith Lord Maul went with the Jedi Padawan Ezra Bridger to his homeworld, Dathomir, to perform an ancient ritual in order to join their minds to gathering information from each other. They learned that the Jedi Master Obi-Wan Kenobi was hiding on a planet with twin suns and that he held the key to destroying the Sith. Maul eventually tracked Kenobi to Tatooine based on this knowledge, but was forced to lure Bridger there when he was unable to draw Kenobi out by himself. Kenobi easily killed the weakened Maul in a final duel.
