The Bothan "Machinist" gloves generated microbursts of counter-current energy for the purpose of calming any unsteady nerves of the wearer. This resulted in an increased accuracy in the handling of volatile materials. Although the term Bothan was found in the name, it was unclear as to whether the Bothans had created this item or whether it was simply named after them.
