Comm scanner

A comm scanner, communications scanner, or communication signal scanner was a piece of communications equipment that monitored frequencies, such as emergency channels, and could detect unauthorized comlink transmissions. They were used by law enforcement to monitor situations such as fatal accidents. Comm scanners had difficulty detecting transmissions from PTP links due to the low power it used and the fact that the technology was antiquated by modern standards.
